Learned a lot with Motion Beast

So I grabbed the Motion Beast course a while back. I was kinda nervous cause it was a bit pricey, even with the holiday sale, but I needed to up my game. The lessons are super detailed and really took my animation skills up a notch. It's self-paced, which worked out perfectly since I could fit it around my work schedule. There's a ton of content there, and they give you all the project files so you can follow along. I even joined the community forum and got some feedback on my work, which was cool. Definitely felt like I got my money's worth and then some, even if it took me a bit to finish it all.

Good value on Black Friday

I finally bought the After Effects Kickstart course during their Black Friday sale. Got a pretty sweet deal, saved a good chunk of cash. Felt like I got a lot for what I paid, which is always good. The lessons are clear, so far so good. Worth the purchase for sure.

Decent course, some small issues

I purchased the Cinema 4D Journey. The content itself is solid and I'm learning a lot. The instructors explain things well and the project files were a big help. Delivery was instant since it's all online, which is great. My only minor complaint is that some of the links to external resources in the course materials were a bit outdated, but I managed to find alternatives. Overall, it's a good investment for learning C4D.

Are these courses good for someone just starting out? I've dabbled a bit but don't have much formal training.

yeah, some courses are definitely beginner-friendly. look for ones with 'kickstart' or 'for beginners' in the title. they ease you into it.

Totally depends on the course. Some are pretty advanced but there are definitely intro level ones. Check the course description for prerequisites.

i'm debating between Motion Design School and School of Motion. anyone tried both and have an opinion?

MDS is usually more focused on software-specific techniques, while SoM can be a bit more conceptual and industry-focused. Both are good, just depends on your learning style.

I found MDS to be really strong on the technical 'how-to' stuff, especially for specific software like C4D or AE. SoM felt a bit more like a 'school' with more structured projects and community interaction. Both are legit though.

Is there like a forum or a Discord for students to talk and share work?

J Josh S. 2 months ago
Yeah, they have a community! I'm pretty sure it's linked from the course dashboard or somewhere on the site. Good for getting feedback.

There's definitely a student community. I've seen people sharing projects and asking questions there. It's helpful.

thinking about getting the 'Motion Beast' course, but also kinda interested in the 3D version. are they pretty similar or should I just get one?

R Renee 2 months ago
Motion Beast is 2D focused, the 3D one is obviously for 3D. If you're new to 3D, start with that. If you're strong in 2D already, the Motion Beast is awesome.

They're different skill sets. Motion Beast is solid for After Effects 2D stuff. The 3D one uses different software entirely, so depends on what you want to learn.

usually they have something around Black Friday/Cyber Monday, that's when I got my courses. might be a bit of a wait though.

yeah, holiday sales are pretty common. I also saw a flash sale pop up randomly once, so keep an eye on their emails.
